Edwall Enterprises SARL
JOB OVERVIEW
Position Overview
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the accounting, reporting, treasury, tax compliance and financial control of three DRC-registered entities — Edwall Enterprises SARL, Bazano Farming SARL and Phoenix Properties SARL. The role sits at the centre of three distinct business lines (mining, farming operations, and property/real estate) and requires the ability to move fluidly between them while maintaining a single, consistent standard of financial discipline across all three. The Finance Manager will act as the local finance lead on the ground in the DRC, working closely with CFO for group reporting and governance matters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
• Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date accounting records for all three entities under SYSCOHADA, including the general ledger, journals and supporting schedules.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) for each entity individually.
• Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany balances and key control accounts on a monthly basis; investigate and resolve variances promptly.
• Own the month-end and year-end close process across all three entities, ensuring reporting deadlines to the Group are consistently met.
• Tailor reporting to the nature of each business: cost of sales for Edwall Enterprises, crop/production cycles and biological asset accounting for Bazano Farming, and rental income, lease schedules and property valuations for Phoenix Properties.
Treasury & Cash Management
• Manage day-to-day cash positions across all entities and bank accounts
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts, flagging funding needs or surplus cash to the Group in a timely manner.
• Process and control payments, supplier settlements and payroll disbursements, ensuring appropriate authorisation and segregation of duties.
• Coordinate intercompany funding, loans and recharges between the three entities and with other Group entities, ensuring proper documentation and interest/terms tracking.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all DRC tax obligations (corporate income tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and any sector-specific levies applicable).
• Maintain compliance with DRC statutory and OHADA regulatory requirements, including annual filings and any sector licences applicable.
• Liaise with local tax authorities, auditors and legal advisors on routine compliance matters and any queries or audits.
• Monitor changes in DRC tax and regulatory requirements and flag implications for the three entities to the Group.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
• Lead the annual budgeting process for each entity, working with local operational teams (farm management, property management, mining operations).
• Track actual performance against budget, prepare variance analysis, and provide commentary on key drivers to management and the Group.
• Provide financial analysis to support business decisions — e.g., farming input costs and yields for Bazano, occupancy and rental yield for Phoenix Properties, margin analysis for Edwall Enterprises.
Internal Controls, Audit & Governance
• Design and maintain internal control procedures appropriate to each entity, including approval matrices, procurement controls and asset registers.
• Act as the primary local point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit fieldwork, providing schedules and resolving audit queries for all three entities.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and inventory records, including periodic physical verification for farming assets, property, and stock.
• Support the CFO with ad hoc governance, board reporting and shareholder information requests relating to the DRC entities.
Team & Stakeholder Management
• Supervise and develop local accounting/finance staff across the three entities, including training on Group policies and reporting standards.
• Build effective working relationships with entity Directors, farm and property operational managers, banks, auditors and tax advisors.
• Represent the finance function in local management meetings and provide clear, timely financial input to operational decision-making.
