JOB OVERVIEW
Job Summary: As the Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all financial activities within our steel trading company. You will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, effective financial management, and expertise in handling Letter of Credits (LC). This is a senior-level position that requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Chief Accountant or Accounting Manager in a trading company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and tax compliance.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare cash flow forecasts, and manage banking relationships.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial information to support business decision-making.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance to senior management.
- Coordinate and ensure the timely completion of audits, tax filings, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive system of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Expertise in Letter of Credits:
- Demonstrate a high level of expertise and know-how in handling Letter of Credits (LC) in the context of steel trading operations.
- Collaborate closely with the trading team to review LC terms, documents, and related financial aspects.
- Ensure compliance with LC requirements and coordinate with banks and relevant stakeholders for LC-related matters.
- Provide guidance and support to the team in managing LC transactions, documentation, and reconciliation.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead a team of accountants and finance professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and achieve organizational goals.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, proposing and implementing appropriate controls.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as auditors and regulatory authorities, to address compliance and risk-related matters.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Chief Accountant or Accounting Manager in a trading company, with a strong understanding of trading operations.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and regulatory requirements.
- High expertise and know-how in handling Letter of Credits (LC) within the steel trading industry.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
